Ambassador Roscoe receiving REMSA award

Ambassador Stories

Ambassador Roscoe

Ambassador Roscoe has saved 7 lives.

Earlier this year, Roscoe, a Downtown Reno Partnership Ambassador, was alerted about a community member who was identified as unconscious inside a restroom. Roscoe’s first-aid training kicked in and recognized this as a likely drug overdose. He dialed 911 and administered naloxone. Crews arrived and were able to further assess the situation and provide care. There’s no doubt that Roscoe’s quick-thinking, fast-acting, and willingness to intervene during a medical emergency, made the difference for that individual. REMSA honored Roscoe with a Community Caregiver award and thank him for taking action.

taken so much from me my whole life.”

Ambassador Danielle

Ambassador Danielle is changing lives through outreach.

Ambassador Danielle says it’s her people skills that make her a prime candidate for working outreach, helping those who are interested get into programs, get into housing and get sober. She has personally escorted people to doctor’s appointments and into facilities for treatment evaluations. With a rough past of domestic violence and drug abuse Danielle went from getting kicked out of a shelter to owning her own apartment and helping others everyday all while being a mother of four.

“It’s very individual on how you work with people, I think I’ve always had a little bit more patience with people.”

Ambassador David

Ambassador David leads with compassion.

For David, his work as an outreach ambassador is even more personal because he was homeless on the same streets he patrols today. It all happened after a monumental relapse, one that came 10.5 years after he had found sobriety. Ambassador David holds a special place in his heart for the people he helps because he knows what it is to be them. The DRP worked with David to get him the help he needed.

“I know a lot of them out there.
I try to be a good example.”
