6 best brunch restaurants in downtown Reno

Brunch is a tradition on the rise throughout the country, likely due to the general population’s inherent desire to drink bottomless mimosas in a place where it’s socially acceptable. The ideal brunch place offers a large selection of delicious breakfast food in a laid-back environment where diners can take their time enjoying a casual late morning meal with friends and family.

To help ease the pain of manually searching through the hundreds of restaurants in downtown Reno in an attempt to find a good brunch, the Downtown Reno Partnership has compiled a list of some of the best places in the area to enjoy a delicious brunch.

Roundabout Grill

The hours at this chic New American eatery located at the Whitney Peak Hotel are very unique but the brunch is absolutely incredible. Fans of a more upscale and classy brunch should flock here. Roundabout Grill’s menu changes seasonally and the restaurant succeeds in incorporating global influences, such as European cooking and seasoning styles, into classic American comfort food. Roundabout Grill is very well known and respected throughout Reno as being a good place for an upscale brunch, with a menu consisting of avocado toast, Hawaiian French toast and Paleo bowls for those who may be partaking in the Paleo diet or want less sugar or processed foods. Expect to spend around $15 per person before drinks.

Roundabout Grill is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then closes for five hours before re-opening for dinner at 4 p.m. The brunch menu is only offered on weekends, when the restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Peg’s Glorified Ham and Eggs

As the name suggests, this local chain located on Sierra Street is most well-known for its breakfast food, especially eggs. In fact, the menu includes almost an entire side of solely egg dishes, making Peg’s the best stop for any huge egg fan. The huevos rancheros are often raved about and the omelets are to die for. Peg’s serves breakfast food during all their open hours so brunch here is a must. Most dishes average about $12 so brunch is completely affordable. Breakfast and lunch are served daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Peg’s. Prepare for wait times on the weekend if you plan to arrive a little later.

Daughters Café

This family-owned and operated restaurant serves seasonal breakfasts and is the perfect place to go for a laid back, family-friendly brunch. Daughters Café is located on Bell Street inside an old, Victorian-style house, making the dining experience truly one of a kind. The menu offers a wide variety of breakfast foods, ranging from omelets to French toast and beignets. The menu changes according to what foods are in season. This restaurant is almost completely run by the family and they put great care into making the experience the best it can be. The average plate costs around $15 before drinks. The restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every day except Monday so make sure to stop by for friendly service and great food.

Mellow Fellow

While typically known for its delicious lunch and dinner, this bar and grill located on Second Street offers an incredible Sunday brunch that is sure to be a fun experience for the whole family. The Sunday brunch includes bottomless mimosas for only $15 in addition to Sunday Morning Trivia, a chance for diners to win cool prizes in a trivia competition. Brunch is fairly cheap as the average diner is likely to pay around $15 for their meal. Fueled by hearty and delicious breakfast food alongside bottomless mimosas or a well-made Bloody Mary, Sunday Morning Trivia is always guaranteed to be a good time for an entire group.

Chez Louie

This French-inspired restaurant is located inside the Nevada Museum of Art and has great ambience for anybody looking to enjoy a casual Sunday brunch. Chez Louie’s Sunday brunch always features live music which helps to create a fun environment while patrons enjoy the bottomless mimosas and bloody marys. The menu boasts a diverse selection of delicious items, ranging from smoked salmon crepes to crème brulee French toast. Expect to pay a little more for this experience with the average price being around $25 to $30 per person. The brunch is well worth the price, however, as customers can enjoy a trip through the art museum in addition to live music and delicious food. It’s recommended to make reservations beforehand as Sunday brunch can be pretty busy.

Madame Butterwork’s Curious Café

Located inside Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, this breakfast café is the first stop for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious brunch inside of the casino. For those staying overnight in the hotel, the scrumptious breakfast food and bottomless mimosas will certainly be appealing. Those not staying at the hotel should still see Madame Butterwork’s as one of the best brunch destinations based on its large menu featuring a wide variety of breakfast foods. Swedish pancakes, huevos rancheros, and croissant club sandwiches are all featured on this brunch hangout’s menu. One of the more popular culinary items are the Curious Hash Browns, which are normal hash browns served with cheese, sour cream, green onions, eggs, and your choice of: corned beef, pastrami, ham, sausage, and bacon. The average meal for one at Madame Butterwork’s costs about $15 before beverages. The restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
