Everyday Heroes Reshaping Downtown Reno: Our Ambassadors Impact on the Community
Downtown Reno is more than just a place, it’s a vibrant, evolving community full of energy, life, and countless stories. Central to this spirit are our dedicated Downtown Reno Partnership Ambassadors, the friendly faces you’ll see out and about every day, working tirelessly to keep our downtown safe, clean, and welcoming to everyone.
Who Are the Ambassadors?
Our Ambassadors, easily spotted in their blue and black uniforms, patrol the downtown area with one clear purpose: to create a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant environment for visitors, residents, businesses, and students alike. Their work is managed by Block by Block, a company with over 30 years of experience dedicated to improving cities through hands-on, community-focused efforts.
They don’t work in isolation. The Ambassadors regularly collaborate with key city partners, including Reno Police, Reno Fire, REMSA, and the City of Reno’s code enforcement, ensuring the district is well maintained and safe around the clock.
Growing with the Community: Adding Security Guards
Listening to the community’s feedback, the Downtown Reno Partnership expanded the team in fall 2024 by adding 10 security guards. These guards complement our Ambassadors by providing 24/7 patrols throughout downtown, creating a stronger safety net and enhancing efficiency. Together, the Ambassadors, security guards, and Reno Police form a collaborative web of support each playing a unique role in safeguarding our district.
A Glimpse into the Daily Life of an Ambassador
I often hear my wife joke, “How do so many people know you?” And it’s true every day presents an opportunity to meet someone new. As an Ambassador, I talk to people constantly. This isn’t just a job; it’s a personal commitment to the community I care so deeply about.
Our goal is simple: make downtown Reno safer, friendlier, and cleaner. Helping others is at the core of what we do. Whether it’s assisting a visitor with directions, helping someone find resources they need, or just offering a kind smile, we strive to make a positive difference every day.
At the end of each day, I go to bed feeling proud because I know we’ve done something good. The work is rewarding; it’s about contributing to a community that feels like home.

Downtown Reno offers something special for everyone. From energetic street life to cultural happenings, it’s no wonder people fall in love with this place. The nearby Truckee River adds a natural beauty that perfectly complements the city’s energy; you can fish, swim, or float in its refreshing waters.
What resonates most with me is the kindness of the people here. Bringing my family downtown feels safe and welcoming, and it’s clear that the same goes for others. Being part of a team that supports the community is not just work; it’s a shared vision to make downtown Reno a better, more connected place every day.
The Impact in Numbers
Our Ambassadors make a tangible difference, and the results speak for themselves. Here are some impressive statistics from the 2025-2026 fiscal year (July 2025 – June 2026):
- 2,894 pounds of trash collected
- 260,447 pieces of graffiti removed
- 433 van rides provided to shelters or services
- 816 instances of direct assistance
These numbers represent lives touched, streets beautified, and a community cared for by dedicated professionals who love what they do.
